Now that there are 7 heroes, and perhaps mercenary heroes, what's on your "I ought to try" list?

For me...

- Now that my warrior has an Orders hero who runs Blood Ritual as a sideline, maybe I should take another look at actual monks with 10+ Divine Favour and monk runes. See how they compare with the necro/ele heal and prot I've been using.

- I'd like to try a minion master, rather than minion bomber, a hero who tries to keep his minions alive. Something like Order of Undeath, 2-3x Animate AL 80 minion, Blood of the Master, Masochism, more. If you have a front line player character, bring Ebon Battle Standard of Honor.

- I can try using a ST prot rit with them. AL 80 minions won't take enough damage to trigger Shelter on every hit like AL 40 suicide minions, and I actually want them protted. I like ST protters a lot, but they don't work so well with minion bombers. I'd like to see whether they work with minion masters.

- I want to build a rush team, something to use in easy stuff. It wouldn't be as strong as my usual panoply of minions and spirits, but I wouldn't need to bind 10 spirits before a fight or use Animate Bone Minions 5 times after one. This might not actually be any quicker than my normal team, because it'll take longer to kill things and involve some wiping, but it might feel faster. Basically it's a middling zpug without the PvE skills but with better team synergy.

- I ought to try assorted endgame stuff with heroes, particularly the places that don't let you take henchmen.

- If I paid (I'm really skint) for a mercenary hero slot, I could have 3 rit or 4 necro heroes. Wow.

So, what's on your "I should try" list?

I'm finding this works fairly well with a dwyana derv hero, especially if you're a caster who can set up battle standard (yes, I'm using the 25e fiends just like a player would). Takes the energy pressure of botm spam plus makes them extremely resilient. I would just look into radiants to help with their questionable emanage.

i wonder if a DwG build with heroes would own everything. It sounds like it could, but then i thought i heard they don't use DwG right.

For some strange reason heroes will hold on to the bundle till it expires which means a force drop for me its too much to micro.

TBH, i wass using this kind of heroes since lot times ago before update.

AotL+masochism+bone horror=11 lvl 20 tank ready to bodyblock! Add BotM to keep them alive, taste of death to keep alive the MM and SolS to keep ene: you're done. And you have still 2 slots and enough extra points to raise to 8-10 command/prot prayers/blood and give additional support on the hero.

ST is nice when:
1-there are no minions
2-the damage is spread on all your team, and shelter can prot all at once.

About the OP, i'll use 7heroes to easily finish my Master of the north title, and find some kind of use for meele heroes (now Earthshacker, Dervs and maybe wota will be my next experiment).

Mallyx on hardmode with no consumables or PvE skills. Too lazy to clear the quest giving access though.

Definatly UW. I've never got around to completing the whole thing (had the game for 5 years; done Kanaxia, DoA, Sorrows Furnace, FoW but never UW all the way through). Once I've got Survivor my plan is to do UW a few times for money and ectos, my last armour set to get is Obsidian and I need money for booze and party items!
